JSID/Montagna Symposium Travel Awards

The JSID and the Montagna Symposium greatly hope that these awards will help developing the careers of young researchers by providing the opportunity to attend an international investigative dermatology meeting with a mission to encourage young investigators in pursuit of careers in academic and investigational dermatology to build interactive, collaborative relationships with established physicians and scientists worldwide.

Who is Eligible?

  1. A member of the JSID
  2. Under age 40
  3. Submission of an abstract for the 68th Annual Montagna Symposium on the Biology of Skin "Decoding Complex Skin Disease - Integrating Genetics, Genomics & Disease Biology" (10-14 October 2019, Salishan Resort, Oregon, U.S.A.) (deadline 1 July 2019; see Montagna Symposium website for details http://www.montagnasymposium.org/index.html)

What are the Benefits?

  1. There will be an opportunity to present and discuss your data at a poster session and also compete for a short oral presentation.
  2. A certificate will be given at the Montagna Symposium and the awardee will be able to include the award in his or her curriculum vitae.
  3. The JSID will award up to 100,000 yen (or up to 200,000yen,* only when the award is given to one JSID member alone) to cover travel and accommodation expenses

NB Any additional costs will need to be borne by the applicant. The awardees shall submit an accounting report and the receipts of travel and accommodation expenses to JSID.

How many awards will be available?

Up to two awardees per year

How can I apply for an award?

An application needs to be submitted by e-mail to the Montagna Symposium Meeting Coordinator (e-mail: stemwedc@ohsu.edu)
(deadline for applications: 1 July 2019)
Applications should include:

  1. An abstract following the guidelines listed on the Montagna Symposium Abstracts page: http://www.montagnasymposium.org/abstracts.html
  2. Indicate in an email application that you are a JSID member, less than 40 years of age, and interested in applying for a JSID Travel Award.

Note: Please prepare abstract and email to the Montagna Symposium Meeting Coordinator in English.

Who will evaluate the applications?

Applications will be evaluated by the Montagna Symposium Program Committee (Program and Session Chairs) and Meeting Director.

When will the outcome be notified?

The Montagna Symposium will announce the awardees in August 2019.
